The main element of the package is the pack (tare). During transportation the transportation tares are used. Sometimes the goods can be accepted with consumer packing according the contract.

Classification of tares is being done depending on their shape. The most common types of them are boxes, barrels, bags, glass jars, rolls, sacks; cages, pallets.

The type of packaging is fixed in standards, technical specifications, regulations for goods packaging during the carriage in normative and technical documentation for the transportation of goods.

Freight forwarding organizations do not implement packaging of goods. This is shippers responsibility, but sometimes the contract between parties includes the packing and goods preparation services.
