Over 1,000 Armenian trucks remain in Upper Lars

Over thousand Armenian trucks have remained at the Upper Lars checkpoint for more than a week on the Russian-Georgian border. Truck drivers alerting Armenian News-NEWS.am note that the Russian side is creating artificial barriers for Armenian trucks, imposing fines of up to 100,000 rubles.
Speaking to Armenian News-NEWS.am, Rafik Hayrapetyan, the director of one of the freight companies in Upper Lars, said that the trucks, after undergoing customs clearance, had allegedly been overloaded and had to pay a fine. Hayrapetyan says they have never encountered such a problem before.
“It's been the fifth day our cars have been in Lars,” he said.
Hayrapetyan informed that they had applied to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of Armenia to clarify the problem, while the director of the freight company insisted that Armenian trucks had not crossed the Russian border yet and that the documents of the cars were with Russian customs officers.
